Chinatown Phase 1, Liverpool. BLOK Architecture

New China Town – Phase 1 / Liverpool

New Chinatown Phase 1 is the beginning of our significant regeneration masterplan of Liverpool’s historic Chinatown. The site plays an important part to the possibility of modernising Chinatown and bringing the city and Baltic closer together.

The overall masterplan is a mixed use development. Phase 1 includes both commercial spaces and residential accommodation. There are 145 residential units comprised of a mix of studio, one bedroom units, two bed duplexes, with appropriate car parking at an undercroft level.

Phase 1’s dynamic design will integrate itself within the overall masterplan of interlocking building forms. The Hardy Street elevation is based on a modular typology giving it its visual character and also creating an efficient layout for the residential units.

Generous amounts of communal amenity space for residents has been thoughtfully incorporated in the design, this includes a well-considered elevated green space. We have also incorporated green spaces to serve the levels of accommodation above. This includes a communal resident’s garden terrace located on the 5th floor and private terraces.
